Simple, works well, easy to set up and clean
This is a nicely made toy. Very easy to put together, the pieces fit well, and everything seems like a pretty good quality plastic. You will need a phillips head screwdriver to screw down the posts, and it takes a little bit of force. The tubes come with two lids: one with one large hole and one with a few small holes to raise the difficulty level. The tubes spin smoothly and fast on the metal bar. The rounded spikes on the bottom are an extra barrier to work around – great for problem-solving and satisfying the cat foraging need. I fill it with dry food so my cats can play with it all day without eating too many treats. It’s a nice supplement to their wet food diet.Overall it’s a great cat toy concept, and I just love this design in particular. Inexpensive, well made. Buy it for your cats!

Play with your Food!
This learning toy is pretty good. Minus one star because of the base. The base had two problems.1. Too Small, such that my < 1 yr old cats can tip it over when their play becomes frenzied.2. The base also functions to make the pet poke around further for the food they release from the cyclinders. The problem is that the food often flies out past the base.Bigger base. Bigger Base.

Strong but easy for cat to turn. Seller exceeds expectations
Arrived missing something but otherwise in good condition, probably an honest mistake as it did not look used but may have been returned. Put in to return it for a replacement and they even saved me the hassle of sending it back and just shipped a new one. Overall it’s a good strong quality. Love the pegs at the bottom as an added enrichment task. Some treats don’t work even with the big single hole lid but that’s only like one specific sub type of treat, most average treats work great. Its LOVELY that it works for all sizes as my cat is a short hair maine coon and absolutely massive at just over a year and a half. It is so hard to find things that work for his size that isnt made for a dog. Plus he doesn’t like stepping on anything, he is too polite so its great he can use his head to tip these rubbing on them.

slimming down my cats
My cats (both a year old) had gotten a little chubby and had also gotten really obnoxious about demanding food. I got the Mad Scientist to try to keep them busy with their food a little longer and slow their intake, since reducing their portion size in a bowl made them intolerable (they just pestered, scratched, and nipped until mealtime). It took them about 3 days to adjust to the Mad Scientist – first, I put the food just on the white base so they had to fish it out from between the pegs; then I put only some of it on the base and showed them how to use their paws to tip the cups. I have the bottom weighted on one edge with a little 5 lb dumbbell so they can’t tip it over (their favorite strategy). It comes with lids that make it more difficult but I haven’t been using them since the cats seem to get frustrated. They still let me know when it’s empty, but often I will find that at their mealtime there is still some food left in it and they haven’t bothered me about food (even though they are on the “weight loss” portion according to the food bag).In summary: Great product, performs as advertised, easy to put together and take apart for cleaning, and really making cat meal-time more pleasant (and sometimes entertaining) for the humans in the house.

Definitely Worth It
this product is amazing! My cats are overweight and this feeder stops them from eating their food in 10 seconds flat. They are engaged and moving around! Would definitely buy again.

My cat doesn’t understand
I am sure other cats love it, but my shelter (1year in a cage) rescue cat does not understand these types of treat puzzles. He also doesn’t care for catnip and no matter how much effort I put into it, he does not understand the concept of playing. And boxes – what’s that for?But he is coming around slowly and let’s me pet him and sometimes brush him.Maybe I will try this again.

Good puzzle feeders but could use some modifications
Works well to relieve boredom for my very smart cats. I’m always looking for new toys/puzzle feeders that will hold my cats interest and that works for larger cats. It was easy to put together and stays clean. The only issue I have is there are too many spikes and they are to tall/close together on the bottom and it makes it hard for my cats to get the kibble once they get it to fall. I have Maine Coon cats and one is polydactyl so I have to assist and divide the kibble after they get it to fall. They do go back to it throughout the day to spin the tubes or tip it over if it’s set aside.

Worth the money and fun.
It is worth the money as my cat, who eats fast and always wants more, finds this interesting and likes to hit the containers to get the dry food. Have not tried to clean it yet as it is still only a week old. It is a fun toy and I recommend it if your cat likes a challenge to get more food. He still goes through this dry food quickly. he stays until it is all gone so I only fill it 1/3 of the way.

Aunque a mi gata parece no gustarle tanto como pensé el producto es muy bueno, se mira de muy buena calidad y pareciera por los materiales que durará para siempre y abajo tiene superficie para que no se resbale. Muy buen producto.

The clever one, Elsa, figured this out in less than a minute whilst the other one, Finnigan, watched to see how it worked. After an hour, Elsa is bored and Finn has yet to figure it out… All round a great toy- how long it keeps them entertained for depends on your cat’s intelligence/desire for treats. If you want to make it easier, they even include lids with 1 big hole as opposed to 3 small ones. This is the second Trixie product I have bought (I got the fun board which they’ve used for years now) and I am just as impressed with quality and sturdiness as I thought I would be. It’s a really decent product for the price point and should last you for years- also easy to clean/maintain. It won’t change your cat’s life, but is fantastic as part of a rotation of environmental enrichment toys for your curious furry babies!

This puzzle is in my regular rotation of mealtime feeders. My 10yo cat seems to enjoy it. I love that it keeps her occupied while I’m at work; it takes her about 30 minutes of puzzle time to finish her meal. I’ve had it just over a year and it has held up well.However…. Unless your cat is a genius, it may take patience and stepwise learning. My cat could not figure it out initially on her own. I needed to use additional steps beyond what instructions recommended.Step 1: I removed the tubes from the puzzle, mostly filled tubes with paper towel, and added some kibble to the top. With tubes lying on the ground she could find and paw out the food. This taught her to associate the tubes with kibble.Step 2: I put the tubes back onto the puzzle, still using paper towel to keep kibble near top.Step 3. Once she learned to spin the tubes to get the kibble, I removed the paper towelStep 4. I finally added the lids to the tubes to increase the challenge. You’ll be so proud when your cat masters this! If you are not willing to spend a few weeks to train your cat to use this puzzle, it may not be the best choice for you. Also, your cat should be hungry (ie no free feeding) when playing this game.
