My dogs love it and the ingredients are much better than a lot of others.
My dogs love this food! They did not have any stomach troubles transitioning from their old food and they gobbled this new food right up. I wanted to try this fish based blend because my dog has allergies and I read that chicken based foods can cause them to flare up and itch. (This does have chicken it in but it’s way down the ingredients list so no too much.) Although my girl is still itching, it’s only been a week so I am going to keep it up and see if this helps. My other dog is a little on the heavy side so it’s great for him too since it’s low calorie. It definitely smells a little fishy, but I keep their food in the laundry room so not too much of an issue there. I think this one is a winner.

My K9’s Favorite Kibble
In full transparency I do mix this food with another solid gold formula for my 2 little dogs.I also foster dogs and for any of the dogs that eat kibble they all also like the food mix.Since foster dogs often have stomach issues, this is great to make a nice calm transition to eating kibble from street food.My dogs are very happy with the taste and quality of this dogfood, and their stomachs are happy too.It smells fine and does not make me revolt.The price is fine.

Finally!!!
I’ve been struggling for years to get the weight down a bit in my older dog without starving her. I talked to my vet about this before purchasing. She was pleased with the caloric content and nutrition listed. She recommended the amount to feed and that’s what I’m doing.I highly recommend a slow feeder. She was inhaling her food so fast she was cooking on it, because she’s hungry. Putting her on portions from full feed was a real struggle but the slow feeder helps her feel more satisfied and enjoy her food longer.You always hear these cliche ads about “my dog is a puppy again since losing weight using this random product” but seriously, she went from laying around all the time to peeling her ears up a little more often and now she’s running laps around the yard and keeping up with her three year old sister. We’ve been using this for a little over a year. It takes patience because dogs don’t lose weight like people. It’s very slow.It was a really long process to get her portions to a healthy amount. Going straight to the recommended amount made her feel like she was starving. YOU KNOW YOUR DOG. If they need a little more than they should have at the start of this new diet/lifestyle change then give it to them but gradually keep backing it off.Her breath smells better and she’s not a stink butt anymore. I’m seeing a lot more benefits than they advertise.

Low Fat Food That the Dog Loves
My dog suffers from severe digestive issues that have caused her great pain and cost me an obscene amount of money. Rich, fatty dog foods are a disaster but it’s hard to find palatable, yet healthy low fat dog foods. That’s where Solid Gold Weight Control comes in. It conforms to the fat content limits placed by our vet and, yet, my dog loves it. It’s quite pricey, but less expensive and of better ingredient quality than prescription dog foods. It is highly recommended by Poppyseed and me.

Sigh. Another brand that misses it on chicken allergies.
I have three dogs – two of which love it. My third I discovered a couple months ago gets seizures from eating food with any chicken in it. We had been subscribing with the fit and fab chicken recipe, so I had hoped switching over to the fish would be an easy transition. But my little buddy had another seizure and I looked closer at the ingredients: dried chicken fats. Sigh. I determined it was chicken related when I switched them onto a pure fish recipe and his health improved/no more seizures, but then this bag came in and we started all over again.I know this is great kibble for most dogs, but I just wish more companies would not sneak the cheaper ingredients into the recipe for people who specifically are paying more to *not* buy food with those ingredients in it.

Dogs seem happy
My girls are hitting middle age and getting a little pudgy. I would like to keep them happy and healthy, so I have been on a search for a product that is lower in calories, has good ingredients, is not chicken based, and is tasty to the girls. Most low calorie dog foods are chicken based which causes the ‘itchies’ for one of my girls. This food has some chicken fat, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to trigger the itch. So, it’s still a dry food, and there isn’t an ‘OMG this is the best thing ever reaction”, but they do like it. They get a few pieces of air dried food on top to get them interested, but they eat all of the food. It seems to be working because they are starting to have a little more waist definition.
