A Major Upgrade Worth Every Penny!
If you’re a cat parent who’s ever battled litter box odors, messy cleanups, or mysterious leaks, listen up—because the PetKit PuraBot Max Pro is here to save the day! As a proud (and slightly obsessive) owner of the previous Pura Max, I was curious if the upgrade would really make a difference. Spoiler: It absolutely does.Here’s why I love the Purabot Max Pro:1. No more Leaks! 👋The original Pura Max had a tiny but evil design flaw—a sneaky little gap between the cylinder and base that became the ultimate pee trap for cats who like to ‘back it up’ when doing their business. If your feline was the type to stick their derrière out while urinating (you know who you are, Mr. Fluffy), that liquid gold would somehow find its way into the tiny crevice, creating a hidden stink bomb that would announce itself days later when the smell became impossible to ignore. The Pro Max fixes this completely, sealing things up so no liquid escapes. No more surprise stink bombs!2. Waste Covering ✨Cleaning the old Pura Max’s drum was… an experience (and not a fun one). The Pro Max’s waste-covering feature is an awesome upgrade—now, most of the mess just rolls right off instead of sticking like cement. Unless your cat has a digestive rebellion (we’ve all been there), cleanup is way easier.3. Smell 👃❌I’m that person with air purifiers in every room, yet my old litter box still occasionally announced its presence. The Pro Max’s N60 deodorizing system in the waste bin reduces the amount of odor from the waste bin. But keep in mind, I still have my air purifiers and I use tofu litter (which tends to smell less).4. Spy Cam for Cats 🕵️♂️🐱This one’s just fun. The built-in camera lets me check which of my two troublemakers did their business—and even saves hilarious video highlights. Watching my cats’ post-potty zoomies has become an unexpected source of entertainment.5. Maintenance Mode 🛠️Adding litter or doing a deep clean used to be such a painful chore to me. Now, Maintenance Mode rotates the drum to face upward, making refills and scrubbing effortless. Best robot litter box ever, really!
My cats won’t go near the Litter-Robot for whatever reason, they just hate it. But I picked this Probot Max Pro up, set it up, and all four of them started using it immediately and apparently enthusiastically. The only real problem with it so far is that because it cycles slowly (for safety), they tend to queue up outside waiting for it, so I guess I’ll have to pick up a second one and send the Litter-Robot to someone with less finicky cats. We’ve been through several different kinds of robot scoopers. HATE the rake style, which are nearly impossible to keep clean, and the cats always find some way to “pause” and poop on, and they always stink, this is the only one I can enthusiastically endorse as worth the money.I have one larger cat (about 12 pounds), two medium sized, and one small-ish. Thanks to the camera, I know the space is just slightly cramped for the larger one, who consequently occasionally leaves a smear on the side. Not a tragedy, the finish is sort of a non-stick and it wipes up, so a couple of times a week I check the camera and take a paper towel to any smears.With four cats, I have to empty it a couple of times a week, which is also fine.I’m not a big fan of the “deodorizing” scent, which smells to me roughly like a clean portapotty, but the scent only lasts a minute or so. I’ve noticed no litter or poo scent at all so far. I intend to let the “deodorizer” run out and see if it’s really necessary.I’m using two different kinds of litter, both seem to work fine. Meijers brand clumping, and Dr Elseys. The cats don’t seem to care either way, and the litter box works just fine with both.The device itself is completely quiet. The most noise is a slight hissing sound as the litter slides back into the box after auto-scooping, and the occasional “thump” of a clump dropping into the waste bin.I also really, really like the waste bin. It holds the bag firmly in place, is easy to pull out to empty, and the bags aren’t stupid expensive even if you buy the brand name. I suspect other bags would work fine, but there’s no reason to find out.In all, this was a great investment. I’m just waiting for another sale to get another one!
