Even I liked this one
I don’t like Southwest flavoring. I’m not from that region and it just doesn’t settle with me. But I have deduced after trying the Chad Mendez meal that this company is from the southwest which probably means I won’t be ordering much from them, not knocking the Southwest just is not my cup of tea but anyway, as a total five star for this meal I’ve got to say it’s literally the first dish from this region I’ve ever eaten and really liked. When I opened the bag I almost didn’t even make it but I decided to try it anyway. It smells very Southwest, but when you’re eating it, it has a very sweet savory flavor. So I actually really liked it. I ate the entire thing. I mean if you can take a meal and I don’t even like the way it smells and I eat the whole thing and love it. I would say that’s a five-star meal. I don’t know if it’s the spices or the particular type of Bean. I’m not really sure. I don’t know much about that region and it’s food. I know it’s very popular but yeah this was insanely good and the food quality is really good. I was exhausted when I ate this and I really needed good nutrition and it seemed like good quality filled me up.

CAN’T BELIEVE IT TASTES SO GOOD!
FULL FLAVOR. Tastes DELICIOUS. EZ prep. Just add boiling water, mix, and wait. Transported this meal and other flavors to ICELAND. No problem getting through TSA since the meals are dried. Packing light is simple. Dietary issues become problems traveling abroad. Peak Refuel solved my problem. I just check the salt content to purchase the dinners I can eat. Only wish the bags would come in SINGLE servings. Refrigerators are not always available in hotel rooms for leftovers. Protein content makes the meals very filling. Texture is good; not mushy or partially reconstituted like other brands. Can’t beat the price…. great value!

This was the easiest, tastiest, and most expensive meal I brought on our camping trip. I supplemented with some plain jasmine instant rice so it could feed three of us. Everything rehydrated perfectly except the black beans; they remained a little crunchy. Overall I would buy it again though.

The best MRE’s out there! Peak Refuel is really good – Sweet Pork & Rice is my go to. Definately not the cheapest-but I think it is the most well prepared and best! Just watch the carbs…..

Leave the spices to me!
Good ingredients, mixes up well, BUT, too spicy. I don’t understand why manufactures of these food products seem to think they know what I like as far as spices go. If I want a product to be more spicy, I’ll add the appropriate item. They end up excluding people who do not care for much added spice. I won’t be buying this again.

Absolutely loved this meal. Lots of shredded pork in the package and the rice was not soupy at all! Peak Refuel has really found a way to get home made tasting meals into their freeze dried packages. Their selection of meal choices is much better than other brands out there as well. I shared this one with my hiking buddy and he agreed it was MUCH better than the other ones he had tasted and well worth a few extra dollars for a gourmet style meal on the trails.

This was a great meal! We took it on a backpacking trip and it was super light and convenient. It took about 15 minutes to hydrate and it cooked beautifully. It was so good that our picky daughters wanted to switch meals so they could eat it! Tons of pork in it and it tasted awesome. We will definitely be ordering this meal again.

This was delicious! Tasted like sweet pork from Costa Vida or cafe Rio. (It is very sweet, so if you don’t like that I would buy a different variety) Rice was not crunchy at all. My only concern was that some of the larger pieces of pork did not hydrate all the way.

I would definitely recommend this! Great product. Tastes like mom’s home cooking in a bag! So far I am a really big fan of these Peak Refuel quick meals! They are all good for camping/hiking meals. Light weight, easy to transport in a back-pack, and actually taste good. Great customer service with Briden!
