Unique cat toy
This is a very unique cat toy, to me at least.The tube comes with packaged toys inside. To open the tube you press a button on the end and slide it off the button.The cats are enjoying it so far. They also haven’t managed to get the toys out of the holes. Definitely recommend, not just for cats’ play but for the novelty of something different.

Simple cardboard tube with holes. My cats took no interest in it.
When I saw this toy for cats, it seemed reasonable that my cats would like it. The ad claimed they would “go crazy” for it. But it doesn’t have texture, as it appears in the advertising. It is a smooth cardboard tube. It doesn’t smell like a log or anything in nature. So, I don’t think my cats are seeing this toy the way the advertising claims they will. They certainly are not responding to it as described either, which is puzzling. It appears other people’s cats love it. My three cats just tapped it a bit and walked away. They have shown no interest in it for a week. I have taken the little stuffed animals out. They just ignore them. I’ve put treats inside the log. They all seem to roll right out with the first turn, so then the cats have no reason to keep playing with the log. They eat the treats and walk away. I tried putting pom poms in it, because my littlest cat loves chasing them and snagging them with her claws. But I guess if she can’t bat them around, they don’t interest her. She did not play with the log, even with the pom poms. So that was my test, with three cats. None of them cared for this toy. It certainly did not “encourage hunting instincts.”What you get with this purchase …a pretty solid cardboard tube that is about 11″ long and 3” in diameter, capped on both ends. One end can be opened to add toys or treats. It has a paper covering that gives it the appearance of being a log, but it has no real texture. The tube is completely smooth. It rolls easily and comes with the two cute toys. The instructions caution you not to wash the log with water, but just wipe with a dry cloth if it gets dirty. The toys can be washed with water or in a washing machine.Overall, I felt this was an expensive investment for a cardboard tube that my cats are not interested in. But I would not have known this without trying it out, so it was an OK experiment to determine which toys my cats will like. I have not had my cats for very long, so we are still learning together and they may not be like other cats, since one was a stray and two were feral. It’s possible that your cats will love this item. Amazon offers their wonderful 30-day return/refund/replace guarantee, with a time extension during the holiday season, for this product and it ships fast and free for Prime members. If my cats played with this cat toy, I would have given it five stars, but since my cats were simply uninterested in it and the advertising promised they would “go crazy” for it, I am reducing my rating to three stars.

My cats love this toy
I recently introduced this tree trunk puzzle toy to my cats, and their reaction was instantaneous, they surrounded me and went crazy for it right out of the package.The toy is a rigid tube, about 11 inches long, with six holes of various sizes. It comes with two small, cute plush creature toys inside, one green, one turquoise with a bell, which immediately got their attention. My cats find the rolling action of the tube engaging, they love batting it across the floor just to hear the bell jingle and to swat at the toys visible through the holes. This rolling feature seems much more stimulating for them than their other puzzle toys that don’t move around.I did see that the tube itself is made of a smooth, rigid cardboard material, which means it slides and spins very easily on carpet.My only critique is that the larger turquoise toy is a bit too big to be easily pulled through the holes, which caused some initial frustration for one of my cats. Because she actually seemed to enjoy playing with that specific plush toy more outside of the tube.Overall, this toy is a hit. It’s a fantastic way to stimulate my cats curiosity, and the fact they play with it for long periods makes it a good value purchase in my book.

Our 16 Year Old Tom Cat’s New Favorite Toy!
Though it doesn’t open (see note at the bottom), I was able to pull the 2 toys out through the log’s holes.I unwrapped the plastic, & stuffed the toys back inside the log.Our 4 month old kitten preferred the toys when they were wrapped in plastic, & lost interest as soon as I threw the plastic away.However, while the listing doesn’t say anything about the toys or log having catnip or silvervine in or on them, our tom cat sure does love them like they do!Our tom cat rubbed his face alllll over this log toy. He stuck his nose inside the holes, loving whatever scent he was smelling in there.He has thoroughly claimed this toy as HIS, & his alone!It’s been a few years since he’s liked a toy so much.This is an excellent cat toy!One Note-There needs to be instructions included with the toy itself.I had to go back to the Amazon listing to find out how the manufacturer intended us to get the plastic off the toys inside the log.Their instructions matched what I’d tried – pushing the white, plastic ‘button’ & attempting to turn the top of the log.But the button doesn’t depress, & the top doesn’t turn.Just pull the toys out through the holes to unwrap them, like I did.
