Impressive little pet camera!
I thought it was so cool that a security camera company was offering a specifically pet and aquarium version. With features including temperature monitoring, I immediately thought of how it would have saved fish lives when a friend’s aquarium heater malfunctioned years ago. I decided to install the camera on my terrarium to see what my tarantula is up to when I’m away. Installation was incredibly fast and easy. The adhesive magnetic sticker holds the unit steady and securely, and the power cord has plenty of length to reach the nearest wall outlet. There is a second sticker, perhaps meant as a spare for when the first wears out, but I like having two options readily available for where I can place the camera. The magnetic attachment makes it super easy to swap between them, easily removed but securely snapping into place. Bluetooth pairing in the app was fairly straightforward. I was setting up two cameras at once, and each one lost connectivity for some reason, requiring me to remove and pair them again. After that initial puzzlement, though, the camera has been working great. While the terrarium is on the small side, and I think the camera would be best on something a little bigger so there’s more room for the lens to focus, I set alerts for motion detection and have gotten some pretty fun tarantula closeups. Picture quality is impressive, especially the low light capabilities. It also picks up when people walk past in the background, but I don’t see a way to isolate the two. Though the app does advertise subscription upgrades, it is not mandatory, and you can opt for using microSD cards for local storage instead. I still need to order some but in the meantime am happy to be receiving message alerts with accompanying images. The camera is well worth its price, and I would purchase one for every aquarium I set up in a heartbeat.

Bird Feeder Camera!
We got this to attach to the window where we have a bird feeder so we can keep our eye on the visiting birds even when we’re not home, and also take some snapshots and videos of our flying friends. That said, It’s winter so we haven’t set it up on the bird feeder, but we have set it up in the house to test it- we’ve discovered it works really well as a puppy cam! The camera is easy to set up with your home wi-fi and the HomiQ app. My son did it in around 5 minutes (maybe older humans like me will take a bit longer), and it’s been working perfectly. We can watch the room, listen to the room, talk to the dog, sound an alarm, and make photos and videos with 4 different zoom levels- all controlled in the app. It also has a sound and motion sensor that will send you an alert- probably not what you want on a fish tank or bird feeder unless you love lots of alerts! The quality of the shots are surprisingly good, and it has a very wide field of vision so you can watch a large bird feeder or most of a fish tank. You can also opt into a paid storage service through the app if you want to store a lot of video- which we didn’t do as we don’t need our images stored, and we especially don’t need our family life being stored on a Chinese server somewhere, but too each their own. The photos and videos you take (without the plan) are stored on an SD card, or in the app- not sure how many the app will let you hold. The USB A cord that powers it must be plugged in (it’s not rechargeable), and it’s a good length so you don’t have to have an outlet right by your window or fish tank. It comes with two adhesive rings that you attach to the glass (permanently), and which have a magnet on the back to hold the camera. It also tells you the temperature and humidity of your house which is a nice little bonus. All in all, we like this camera-it doesn’t break the bank, and it’s going to be a nice addition to our birding this summer- we’ll continue to use it as a pet cam until then!

Pretty cool camera
So even though image camera quality isn’t the best, which could be due to other factors such as our internet, I really like it! Now I can see what time kitties come and eat the food i leave out as seen in one of the motion captures i uploaded, and finally was able to watch the possum eat as well. It says it has night vision automatically but its definitely not working for me, even in mornings when sun is coming out that creeps under cracked garage door its really dark and camera quality is horrible at that time, but that’s ok cause im not checking at that time of day. It was super easy to set up and mount. Really easy connectivity, you download the required app which is easy to use and just make sure to do all updates via app store. I have it in my laundry room for now, comes with magnetic front and you attach other magnetic piece to that and place securely to your window. I chose the SD card for storage but you can purchase cloud storage. You can go back and watch the live view under playback. You can turn on private mode, and also have option to turn off blue light on the back of cam as well which I did. Now i can check before I go to garage so I dont scare off the cat while he’s eating.
