Skymee Feeder has the BEST Features
I replaced an old larger feeder that did not have battery backup with 2 Skymee feeders… one for each cat.I have to say that the features of Skymee, and the support have been wonderful. I can not find another feeder with the features of these…PROS:- Camera is crystal clear- Mic is crystal clear- Has a unique food distribution system to keep food very fresh- LARGE storage hopper- Battery Backup- App works great and has been updated several times already- Easy setup- Yes, there is an Alexa skill to feed animals (although they do not promote it as it may still be in testing) but it works great- Customer service gets back to you quick.CONS:- Quality control in manufacturing. 1 Unit came with tinny speaker. Sent it back for replacement which was fine.- Occasional “Insufficient Food” Errors which is not true. This may be because it used infrared and I have 2 units side by side.- Can’t easily see food level in bin because it is white… but you do get notified if food is out.- If the portion is too big it will give partial amount, When pet eats some it distributes the rest. Some people think it is a bug, but it seems like a feature to me!All in all there are a ton of feeders out there but nothing has the features that these have. I truly recommend Skymee!

Update: Unfortunately what was a once and a while thing has turned into an every time thing. No way to clean the dispensing spindle and track. We use small pellet sized food that typically dispensed with only minor issue but it seems now after only 6 weeks of daily use the spinning track has built up crumb residues and unfortunately can’t be cleaned thoroughly. Now the food just gets stuck and instead of dispensing the portioned food it’s beeping the trouble indicator every time. It seems design flaws have given it a 40 day life span!!It works very well most of the time with the occasional issue of the dispensing spindle sticking which results in the food not being dispensed. We used it on a two week trip and had someone checking in, during that period we had no issues. The only issues occurred while we were here that we were aware of unless the issue auto corrected un-noticed. We’re happy with the purchase and the cats enjoy hearing my wife’s recorded voice calling them to meal time. All in all so far a great product addition to our pets lives. The two times we were aware that the spindle got jammed it was easily corrected by swirling the food away from the rotating spindle, and as I said perhaps it happened unnoticed and corrected itself during the next feeding. Our pop-in care taker timed many visits during feeding times and witnessed no issues while we were away.

It seems to be the best one out there, so 5 starts, but it does have room to improve.It has a unique motion detection feature that snaps photos and send them to you when it’s detected, and its sensitivity is highly configurable. It has what seems to be the largest container. Video, photo, HD, zoom, wide-angle, night vision, sound, mic, personalized recordings, highly configurable portion sizes, backup battery power, capacity window, magnetic bowl, food deodorant packs, prompt and courteous customer support. I didn’t have connectivity issues with the app as others did in the app reviews. They also seem to update the app and the feeder firmware frequently. Make sure to update both of those as they roll out fixes and improvements.I did witness a few quirks others mentioned in the product reviews. Sometimes the app doesn’t seem to save all the settings, but it eventually does, so make sure to double check each time that your changes persisted. It loses wifi connection and remote control when it’s on batteries power only (scheduled feeding does continue), but I believe other ones do this as well. They told me that it goes offline on purpose to conserve battery power. It would be good if users had an option to turn this power save feature off or on if they want to, so that we can still have remote access if that is more important to us than less battery life. It would also be really useful if there was an indicator in the app showing how much battery life is left. It would be great if there was an option to constantly record video, on sd card and/or online like the Nest Cam does. At the very least it would be good if it recorded and sent video clips whenever it detected motion and during feedings, not just photos, and if it also sent email alerts in addition to phone notifications. It would also be good if it had an ethernet cord hookup, not just as a backup to wifi but also for faster transfer speeds and better video/audio quality. It would also be convenient if you could control it remotely from a computer, not just the phone app. Once, so far, a food piece has fallen into the chamber late after the door was already closed, this made the feeder blink red and show malfunction, but after dispensing another portion it simply returned back to normal. If too much food is dispensed, it can eventually stack up to the door and block it from clo1sing`.1“““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““““`1SAr$WE CCCCCCCC CC\Sorry, that was a cat typing on keyboard, but since this is his feeder, I feel like his opinion matters as well, so I’ll just leave that there.You can’t see the bowl in the camera so you don’t know how much food is dispensed, but I don’t think you can see that in any other ones either. Mine is turned towards a wall so I put a small mirror on the wall and angled it so that I can see the bowl. Which bring me to another point, I have no idea how secure the camera is or even how trustworthy the foreign company is that runs it. I’m wondering if video goes through that company’s servers which could be hacked depending on how secure they are or even misused by the company itself. Also, seems like all you’d need is to acquire users account credentials to be able to get into their video streams since you can view them from anywhere, not just from home wifi. I’d also be worried if the video stream is not encrypted and the home wifi network is all it takes to get the stream, wifi guests/users shouldn’t be able to access it. Just in case, I’m pointing mine into a wall and be sure to not point it into any private or sensitive areas.

I bought this for my two cats so that I could be away from home for a few days at a time knowing they would be fed properly. This is amazing. Connect it to your Wi-Fi and you can see what’s going on from the camera and even take snapshots. You can choose a cat meow or a dog bark or record your own voice to announce feeding and you can set the portion amount and timing remotely. It’s really easy to use and even when I am home my cats no longer jump on my bed in the early hours wanting to be fed. I gave this product five stars because it is really excellent, but I found it easier to prop the back up with a sloping platform to encourage the food to slide further down the bowl. Highly recommended!

I love my Skymee – I can make sure my cat gets fed even when I’m not around and can always check back on the motion-triggered photos to see with my own eyes that she’s eaten, giving me peace of mind. I’ve had some connection issues but the support team is really helpful.
