My dogs goes crazy for these freeze-dried treats!
I’m a huge fan of single-ingredient treats, so when I saw freeze-dried donkey, I was intruiged. My dog absolutely loved these treats! He’s had freeze-dried ingredients before, but something about the smell of these got him extra hyped up. He was trying to shove his whole head in the bag to steal as many as he could. He was even biting at the bag when I was holding it to try to get more. My dog loves pretty much all treats but I could tell these were extra special to him. These treats are a great size for training and are easy to break up into smaller bites as well. I’ll definitely use them in our daily training sessions and as higher value rewards since he loves the donkey meat so much!

Overall, the treat itself seems to be good. But there are a couple of reasons for the four stars! First the product, my dogs LOVE them! I have been giving them a lot of single ingrediet dehydrated threats lately and they love them. This is no different. First time with the donkey meat but they gobbled it up! It’s great that it’s a single ingrediet treat with no additives! The chunks are a moderate size. What I don’t like and the reason for the four stars. First, there is NO WHERE on the package that states where this product is made! I usually only give my dogs products produced in the U.S. or other safe countries, but mostly U.S. I try to avoid products from China, as several years ago, there were issues with treats from China causing dogs to get sick and even die. This product list NO location for manufacturing. Which leads me to believe that it was made in China. The other issue is that for the cost, you only get 3 ounces!!! You could get a whole bag of chicken jerky for that!

I was a little skeptical ordering this product at first. I gave our lab these as a treat and he seemed to like them. The packaging is really nice and is resealable to keep the treats fresh.

I have 2 dogs with sensitivity/allergies to many foods. Both of my dogs seemed to love it and didn’t have any skin issues after eating them.

I’ve sampled a lot of treats in my day, and let me tell you—this Royal Rations Freeze-Dried Donkey Meat is DELICIOUS. It’s lean, clean, and packed with protein. I’m a red Shiba, and I go full crazy when this stuff comes out. The chunks are freeze dried in various sizes that are good for any sized dog, and since they are crunchy, meaty, and easy for my human to tear or cut into smaller pieces for training even tini tiny wee ones can eat these. She says it’s got omega-3s, B vitamins, and iron… I say it’s got yum.Inari (age 11 months, 23lbs):HI HI HI. I’m Inari and I have thoughts and like to share them with everyone!!! I like to jump in circles when I smell this donkey snack! It’s not stinky, which means my furless mom lets me eat it inside. She even puts teeny tiny pieces on our dinner and calls it a “topper”—I call it a “celebration.” Also, no weird stuff like corn, soy, dairy, glutens, hormones, antibiotics, or dyes. Just meat. JUST MEAT. That’s how I like it.Both Shibas (in sync):BUT. Our human says they don’t share where the donkeys were raised or processed. They say “open pastures” and “care and respect,” but we Shibas need more facts. Was it grass-fed? Which country? We trust our human to keep us safe and she wants full transparency.So we’re giving this 3 out of 5 paws. We LOVE the taste and quality. But no origin info = no full marks.Still sniff-worthy. Still tail-wag approved. But mystery meat? Not our style – nope.

I like to provide my dogs with a variety of treats to keep things interesting which is why I chose these donkey meat freeze dried treats. They are 100% meat and treated to keep them fresh. They’re a good size and texture for training. I think my dogs will like them!

As a dog owner, I’m always on the lookout for high-quality treats with the highest possible meat content. This pack contains 90g of freeze-dried raw donkey meat, and I was impressed from the start.Upon opening, I found the meat cut into good-sized cubes—perfect for my 35kg dog. The treats have very little smell, which I appreciated, especially considering they’re raw meat. I also really liked the minimal ingredients list: 100% donkey meat and nothing else. Simple and clean.Most importantly, they passed the taste test with flying colours—my dog absolutely loved them. While they are on the pricier side, that’s to be expected given the unique protein source and freeze-drying process.Overall, this is a great-quality, pure meat treat that I feel good about giving my dog.

I will refrain from my thoughts on donkey meat, but my dog enjoys these treats. I think he was a little unsure of the texture at first as it’s freeze-dried, but after eating it, he wanted more. It’s 100% donkey meat, which makes it better quality as there’s nothing else in it, but donkey meat is known for low quality meat in general, especially compared to others like beef etc. Freeze-dried adds to the price too, and for 90g, it does seem expensive. The pieces come in a variety of small sizes, which are great for training.

I ordered this product as I like to give my dogs unusual protein forms, and they had never tried donkey before.The treats come packaged in a resealable pouch, which is well printed with all the feeding guidelines, ingredients (100 donkey meat) , as well as a best before date which is around a year away from now. You do also need to remove the preservative pack on opening, so it isn’t accidentally fed.The treats themselves are lightweight as you would expect I’d you’ve fed freeze dried food before, and are a mixture of around 1cm square pieces and down, as a lot seem to have been broken since production, however they are still big enough to use as training treats.Overall they seen pleasant tasting as both dogs readily ate them, they also seem like a well made product as they were completely dehydrated, the meat appeared to be good quality, and it was nice to be able to offer them a novel protein that they hadn’t tried before, so I am happy to recommend these treats.
